It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles A. Perkins, Jr., our dear friend, colleague and founder of our firm.  Charlie left a void that can never be filled.

Charlie was more than a mentor and teacher to the attorneys and staff in our firm, he was a cherished colleague and friend to countless individuals.  He endeared himself to everyone in the office with his ever-present laugh, old movie references, spontaneous parody songs, and the ease with which he directed the operations around him.

In addition to being eminently likeable and enjoyable to work with, he truly embodied what it meant to be a community association lawyer.  He was a remarkably able and well-respected attorney, earning many accolades for his professional contributions and unwavering dedication to his chosen field of practice.  His commitment to co-workers, fellow attorneys, friends and clients was always present and is profoundly missed.

It is no exaggeration to say that Charlie was a true pioneer in the practice and development of Massachusetts condominium law. Over his decades-long career as a community association advisor, he counseled thousands of clients on all manner of issues.  As a long time and deeply committed member of Community Associations Institute and similar organizations, Charlie gave countless hours to educate, teach, lecture and inform others about community association law.  Numerous lawyers relied on him as the “go-to” sounding board on all matters related to condominiums.    He was always available to anyone in need.  He always had a well thought out answer.

Charlie was a long-standing member of the distinguished College of Community Association Lawyers and recipient of an array of honors on both the regional and national level. His expertise, professionalism, and compassionate approach to law touched many lives, and we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind as a namesake of our firm. He was larger than life, a dear friend, and exemplary colleague.  His example and teachings will always be with us.

Charlie’s infectious zeal for life and omnipresent sense of humor endeared him to all that had the privilege of meeting him.  Charlie’s generosity of spirit is known well beyond our firm, and we know that so many of you will miss the joy that he brought to his engagement with others.
